Grandparents’ Day FAQ
Are parents invited to attend Grandparents’ Day?
As much as we would love to have parents join us, we simply do not have the room. Grandparents’ Day is a day for SMA students to share their school and their classrooms with their grandparents.
My child’s grandparent lives out of state and won’t be able to attend. Can I invite someone else?
Yes. Special friends are invited if a grandparent cannot attend. Special friends can be aunts, uncles, babysitters, family friends, etc.
My grandparent has trouble moving around. How much walking is involved?
Grandparents will be walking from the High School Forum to the Community Center and finally within the Lower, Middle or High Schools, so quite a bit of walking is involved. There is handicapped parking available in front of the Sanders House.
My grandparent needs special assistance but would still like to attend. Is this possible?
Yes! Even if your grandparent cannot attend independently we still want them to be here. Please contact Lea Frank at firstname.lastname@example.org for special accommodations.
How can parents help with Grandparents’ Day?
Parent volunteers are vital to a successful day. Ways to volunteer include set-up the day before, helping with the breakfast and taking pictures of grandparents and students. Email Lea Frank at email@example.com if you are interested in helping.
Join us on Friday, November 17 to celebrate our wonderful grandparents. Each year more than 300 Grandparents visit St. Mary’s Academy and enjoy a musical performance before sitting down to a hearty breakfast. After breakfast, grandparents join their students for a special day at school. We are so thankful for our special guests.
As much as we’d love to have parents join us, we simply do not have the room. It’s a day for SMA students to share their school and classrooms with their grandparents or special friend (aunt, uncle, family friend, etc.).
The only parents attending will be volunteers.
If you would like to volunteer please contact Lea Frank.
