SMA is proud to present "It's Not the 70's Anymore." Ms. Steinhauser is a Denver lawyer who specializes in criminal defense cases involving juveniles and adults. She is an award-winning litigator with extensive trial experience as a Chief Prosecutor in the Denver District Attorney's Office.

"It's Not the 70's Anymore" helps educate kids and parents about the laws, constitutional rights, and issues such as sexting, drug and alcohol use. shoplifting, domestic violence, harassment, and sexual assault. The presentation also focuses on how Facebook and other social media can be used against its users. This presentation is targeted to the parents of HS and MS students. Ms. Steinhauser will also present to MS seventh and eighth graders and to HS students on Feb. 22. Click here for more information. If you are interested in attending, please contact Kathleen Hogan. Instructions for Accessing the PARENT PORTAL:
1. Click on the Parent Portal linkand click the orange reset password link to set your initial password.
2. You will need to enter your email address as your user name and check your email to go through the reset process; please check your SPAM folders if you have not received an obvious password reset.
3. Subsequently, you will be able to find a link to the PCR Portal under Resources on the St. Mary's Academy website (All Academy) - you will need to choose the Parent thumbnail.
4. Please bookmark your Parent Portal login page for easy access later!
5. From there, we invite you to tour and click around the portal. The site is self-explanatory and simple to use.

Updated Inclement Weather Policy
It's that time of year. We have added an addendum to our Inclement Weather Policy as follows:
"When overnight forecasts are ominous, we will preemptively cancel before-school activities for the following morning. Participants in these activities will be notified the evening before." Click here to read the entire SMA Inclement Weather Policy.

Kathryn McNamee - HS Principal

At last Friday's assembly the Kindergarteners celebrated the Stock Show with wonderful dancing, singing, and a parachute show.
Last week the MS Orchestra performed for the Junior Kindergarten class. The students loved "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star."
Parent/Teacher Conferences for JK, third, fourth, and fifth grades are February 2 and 3.

Save the Date! Seventh and eighth grade boys and their fathers and/or significant male mentors are invited to Courage for the Journey on Thursday, February 8, from 3:30 to 5:30 PM in the MS Commons. With the theme of Fireside Chats with the Most Interesting Men in the World, attendees will come together for delicious food, stimulating conversation, and active fun in a must-not-miss afternoon.

High School News & Events
Stewart Devine spoke to the Middle East Studies class. Mr. Devine served our nation first as an Army office and then as a foreign service officer for the U.S. Department of State. He spoke about his experiences of working throughout the world to support other nations while representing the United States. Many of the students were inspired to pursue a future career in the foreign service. Middle East Studies benefits greatly from having professionals share their experiences and perspectives about the Middle East.
Today in the high school, the seniors in the National Honor Society hosted the annual Brain Brawl. In this lively competition, students answer trivia questions in various categories and dress up to match their team themes. Tomorrow night the winning team from each grade will compete in an ultimate "battle of the brains" showdown before the talent show.

Last night SAIMARAC, SMA's Honor Choir, impressed the crowd at the Denver Nuggets game with their singing of the National Anthem. The students were thrilled to perform for such a big event and had a lot of fun doing so. Thank you to all of the families who came to support the students.
A great way for alumnae to support the Gala is through catalog advertising. The Gala catalog is distributed to 500 constituents of St. Mary's Academy and is an effective way to spread the word about your business! Basketball Program Takes Down Peak to Peak
Congratulations to the SMA basketball players on their wins over Peak to Peak last week. The JV and Varsity teams beat out the Pumas 29-23 and 39-21, respectively. Show your Wildcat pride by cheering on the teams today, January 25, as SMA battles it out against SkyView Academy at 4:30 PM and 6:00 PM in the Bishop Evans Sports Center.
Swimming Seniors Honored at Home Meet
SMA's swimming seniors Alex Reddington, Molly Hamilton, and Julia Gabriele (pictured right) were honored at the home meet last week at Green Mountain Pool. Coach Pari Shaghaghi congratulated them for their hard work, leadership, and commitment to the team. Thank you, seniors!
