Meeting SMA Families
Academy Parents, the parent association on campus, works to ensure that every new family gets connected with a family whose child is already attending St. Mary’s Academy. Designed as a parent-to-parent buddy system, we try to make matches by gender, and approximate age of your respective children to foster an opportunity for families to get together, exchange information, and share experiences.
Your buddy family will be available for any questions or introductions you would like to help acclimate you and your family to your new SMA community and environment.
SMA utilizes the service Way To Go to help connect families who live in proximity to one another for carpools, ride-arranging, and playdates. You will receive an e-mail from Way To Go in June or early July. In addition, the Admissions Office is always happy to run zip code lists for you so that you can identify which SMA families live near you to perhaps arrange playdates or carpools to school.
Academic Year Calendars
SMA maintains an All Academy calendar and specific Division level calendars throughout the year to provide additional information about important dates, events, and other activities taking place. How can I get involved?
We encourage you to visit the Volunteers page on our website and plan on dropping by the Academy Parents table during orientation days. In addition, please come to an Academy Parents meeting to learn about various committees and meet parents active in this parent group. The Academy Parents hold monthly business meetings at which all are welcome on the third Thursday at 8:15 AM in the Community Center Duncan Lunchroom.
New families always say that the best way to get to know people at school is to volunteer. Volunteer opportunities vary depending on the age of your child, so we advise letting your child’s teacher know about your availability and interests.
