Coach Nina Ehrlich has been teaching Social Studies at SMA since 2012, and has been a member of the volleyball coaching staff since 2013. She served as the Varsity Assistant in 2013, and then took on JV Volleyball for the 2014 and 2015 seasons. Last year, the JV team finished with a 12-2 record. Nina is thrilled to be the Varsity coach for 2016!
Nina was a three-sport athlete at SMA from 1998 to 2002, and graduated with 8 varsity letters in Volleyball, Basketball, and Soccer. She prided herself in balancing sports with academics and student life, graduating at the top of her class and serving as Student Body President (2002). She was named Honorable Mention in the Metro League as a setter and senior captain in volleyball (2001), and won the SMA Sportsmanship Award in 2002. Her soccer team won the Metro League in 2002, and she also earned the Esther Bradley Heart and Hustle Award as a senior captain in basketball in 2002. As a lifelong athlete, Nina continues to play all of her three favorite sports; she also enjoys skiing, hiking, running, yoga, golf, and softball.
Nina attended Duke University, where she earned a BA in History (2006). She was named the Outstanding History Graduate Student at Colorado State University, where she earned her MA in History (2011). She loves to learn on and off the court, and hopes that SMA student-athletes will look to her as a role model of scholarship, leadership, character, and citizenship.
