Head Coach: Persy Sample
Persy grew up in Northeast Ohio, where she played for Western Reserve Academy throughout her high school career. She was a 2 time captain ’09-’10 and was a 2 time MVP in ’09-’10. Some of her high school accolades include: All Region ’09, Second Team All-State ’10, All Region ’10, First Team All State ’10. She was also a member of the 2009 Ohio National Team.
Persy went on to play D1 for University at Albany, where she was a part of the 2011 America East Championship Team. Their team went on to the second round of the NCAA tournament where they witnessed their first loss of the season to Northwestern. After her freshman year, Persy went on to play for Miami University of Ohio. She was captain and the event coordinator of the nationally ranked, student run club team. Throughout college Persy was a club coach for Ohio Premier Lacrosse, 2010-2017. She went on to be the Director of Ohio Premier in 2015. Persy was also the Head Coach of Hudson High School where she took her first year team to the state Final Four with a record of 15-3. In her second year they ended with a record of 16-2 and an appearance in the Regional Finals.
Persy’s coaching philosophy stems from fundamentals and fun. Making sure that players are learning the proper way to play lacrosse, will ultimately lead to more advanced skills, which leads to playing at your ultimate potential. That’s where the most fun comes! She is extremely excited to have landed at St. Mary’s Academy, and is looking forward to the upcoming 2018 season!
Assistant Coach: Emily Mooney
Emily is a recent Trinity College graduate (Hartford CT). There she played goalie for the Bantams for four years. While at Trinity she won three NESCAC Championships and made it to the Division III National Championship all four years. She graduated with a degree in Political science and currently works in finance in Centenial CO.
