High School Cross Country

Coach Berger has served as the head coach at SMA since 2009. This season marks his 40th year coaching. Coach Berger grew up in Lakewood and attended Colorado State University where he earned a BA in Art and a Masters in Education. In college he was a distance runner and after his competitive running career ended he pursued coaching cross country. Prior to his time at SMA, Coach Berger served as head and assistant coach for Poudre HS which included 4 Team State Championships and 4 Individual Championships. Coach Berger’s running accomplishments include completing 20 marathons with a personal record of 2:29.16. He enjoys spending time with Terri, his wife of 31 years, and his son Jeffrey.
Coach Miller began coaching in the middle school at Saint Mary’s Academy in 2011, moving up to the high school in the fall of 2014. This season will be her 12th year coaching cross country. Prior to coaching at SMA she started and ran the cross country program at Most Precious Blood Middle School.
Coach Miller grew up in Aurora and attended CSU where she earned a BSBA with a concentration in Marketing.
Coach Miller is a certified personal trainer by NASM and a certified running coach for teens and adults. She is an avid runner with a personal best of 3:19 in the Marathon and a 1:33 in the Half-marathon.
Coach Miller has two children, Sam and Kelly with Daniel, her husband of 31 years.
